B'Nei Mitzvah
at MRT
A meaningful milestone.
A lifelong beginning.
“A young person does not simply have a Bar or Bat Mitzvah — they become a Bar or Bat Mitzvah.”
Preparing for a Bar or Bat Mitzvah is one of the most special and transformative moments in a young person’s Jewish journey. At Monmouth Reform Temple, this experience is about much more than preparing for a single day. It is about growth, confidence, connection, and stepping into Jewish life with pride.
When a young person becomes a Bar or Bat Mitzvah, they take their place as a responsible member of the Jewish community. Along the way, students strengthen their Hebrew and prayer skills, explore Jewish values, and gain confidence as leaders on the bimah. Families often discover that this journey deepens their own connection to Jewish tradition and to the synagogue community as well.
Taking place during Shabbat services, students help lead prayers and share their learning with the congregation. It is a moment of pride not only for the student and their family, but for the entire MRT community that has supported them along the way.
At its heart, this milestone marks a significant milestone in their lifelong Jewish journey — one filled with learning, leadership, community, and living Jewish values.

Continuing the Journey
Students build strong Hebrew and prayer skills, explore Jewish values, and work closely with clergy and teachers to prepare to help lead the congregation with confidence.
Families gather with the MRT community for meaningful Shabbat services, where students lead prayers and share their learning on the bimah.
Bar/Bat Mitzvah is not the finish line. MRT encourages continued engagement through teen learning, leadership opportunities, youth groups, and social action experiences.
