What is K'vod Yadayim?
K’vod Yadayim—Holy Hands is a new MRT initiative that connects congregants facing life’s challenges with someone in our community who has walked a similar path.
Illness. The loss of a job. The death of a spouse, sibling, parent, or child. Infertility or miscarriage. Financial hardship. Divorce. Caregiving. Loneliness. Addiction. Aging. Mental health challenges. Life brings us journeys we never expected to take.
But sometimes the best person to walk beside us is someone who has already traveled that road.
Rabbi Renee is creating a sacred and confidential database of MRT congregants willing to share the life experiences they have faced. When she learns that someone in our community is beginning a difficult journey, she can confidentially reach out to a congregant who has faced something similar. If both people are comfortable, she will make the connection.
You are not being asked to solve another person’s problems. You are simply being asked to be present—to listen, to share when appropriate, to offer encouragement, and perhaps to become a friend brought together by life’s experiences.
The Talmud teaches:
כל ישראל ערבים זה בזה — Kol Yisrael arevim zeh bazeh.
All Israel is responsible for one another.
At MRT, we want to make those ancient words a living reality.
Your difficult journey may become someone else’s source of strength. Your experience may become another person’s hope. Your hands may help hold someone when they need it most.
Together, we can make MRT not simply a congregation we belong to, but a sacred community that carries one another through life.
