I became Rabbi of Monmouth Reform Temple in July of 2010, the congregation’s 50th year. My husband Drew and daughters Madeline and Noa and I are blessed to be a part of the MRT family.
To share a bit of my rabbinic story, I am passionate about congregational life, because I believe that only in community does the real action of Jewish life and connection take place.
I began my career as a pulpit rabbi at Temple Shalom of Newton, MA where I served from 2006-2010. Immediately following ordination (Hebrew Union College-Jewish Institute of Religion 2005), I began to lay the foundations of my rabbinate at the Union for Reform Judaism. While with the URJ, my focus was on youth work, outreach, and membership issues, as I served both as the Director of Youth and Informal Education (New Jersey Council), and also as the Project Coordinator in the National Department of Outreach and Synagogue Community. I am very excited to partner with Cantor Clissold to enrich MRT’s worship life. Because I began my professional life as a classical singer, holding both a bachelor's and a master's degree in Voice Performance from the University of Michigan and University of Illinois respectively, I have a unique appreciation for the artistry that Cantor Clissold brings to the pulpit. After performing extensively including engagements with the Santa Fe and Palm Beach Operas, my love for music and Judaism converged during the five years that I served as Cantorial Soloist and Musical Director of Congregation Kol Ami in Chicago. I credit my experience at Congregation Kol Ami with fostering my passion for studying and teaching Torah and leading me to the rabbinate.
There is much work to be done to bring a vibrant, innovative, and relevant Judaism to a new generation. I look forward to our partnership as we continue to build a community worthy of God’s blessing. To find our more about me read my Rabbinic Vision Statement.
